HOW TO: Keep Your Lips Moisturized While Wearing MATTE Lipsticks

Hello lovies! So before the month ends, here's my last post and I hope this will really help you a lot especially now that we're all fighting for a really cold breeze in the morning. :)

Some might notice that their lips are getting dry when the cold season comes in. We may use lip balms, moisturizers, lip gloss, etc. But of course, since most of us uses matte finish lippies in today's trend, we might want to keep our puckers smooth at all times.

Here's a quick tip on how to keep your lips moisturized when using a matte lipstick:

Bare Lips

Apply some lip moisturizer, lip balm or lip cream.
NEVER put a lip gloss since you still want to have a matte finish lips.

Apply a matte lipstick on top of the moisturizer.
Don't worry 'cause after a couple of minutes, the slight gloss effect will diminish and you can still have the matte look you desire
without getting your lips dry out.

So there, just remember to put a little moisturizer every time you retouch your lips. Having dried lips will always be a NO-NO!

I've HIT the PAN!

Happy Sunday loves! It's been a very busy week for me and I also need to catch up with my son every weekend. Tonight's the only time to also catch up with my blog. Urghhhh! It's so hard to resist the temptation of sleep everyday, and I promise that I will try to do my best to update you every now and then.

Anyway, I'm just happy that I already hit the pan for my two face powders. Well, I don't use them so often since I always do use liquid foundations for good 8-10 hour coverage.

Here they are:

from my HOW TO LOOK THE BEST AT EVERYTHING kit
Hello Flawless "I love me" Ivory powder foundation
BENEFIT COSMETICS

MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder NC30

So before I finish these pans, I will have to purchase a new powder for touch ups and of course to set my liquid foundations and make ups.

Review: ACTIVE Cosmetics Blush On

One last hit before I get off for work and get busy again the whole week. Sigh. Well, that's all for the little guy. All the hard work will pay off every time I see smiles and hear laughs and giggles from my little boo. :)

Another lovey that I have from my Active Cosmetics palette are these blush on colored in pink and peach:

nice colors :)

housed underneath the eye shadows

the kit

swatch on my skin:
left is the pink shade
right is peach

PRO's:

- very light on the skin
- lasts for about 8 hours
- not cakey or powdery
- smooth application
- shimmery but not too much

CON's:

- not available locally
- you have to apply it evenly
- not too much pigmented so you have to apply twice
- better to use a blush brush instead of the brush that comes with it

PRICE:

- no idea since it was given by my mom-in-law, bought in London

Overall, I love it on my skin. It has a natural finish and glow. :)

NOTD: Bright RED Nails

Weekend is almost over and work is here again! Thankful that my son's nanny was trained for some mani and pedi stuffs so I still have the convenience of not going out for some nail refreshments.

I should stop posting this as NOTD but rather "Nails of the Week" since it will last for a whole week. LOL. Anyway, here's my Bright Red Nails for this week.

Aren't these sexy?

HOW TO: Sanitize Your Lipsticks

Happy Weekends everyone! I hope you guys are enjoying as well as me. Well, this is the only time that I can blog, so I'll try to make up for the days that I haven't been feeding you with my thoughts about cosmetics and stuff. :)

Today, I decided to clean and sanitize my "over" used lippies. Sanitizing our valued cosmetics are way very important as washing our brushes. If you have been to cosmetic counters inside department stores, you might have asked the sales lady or attendant to wipe the lippies before trying them out right? Have you noticed what they did? Try going into MAC counters, they usually spray something on the lipstick and wipe it out with a tissue before letting you try it. Or sometimes, they use a cotton tip to get some amount instead of giving you the whole tube. That way, you don't have to worry about the cleanliness of the lipstick that you'll be applying on your lips. :)

Here's how we should sanitize our lippies:

What you will need:

70% Isopropyl Alcohol
any container for dipping
tissue
lipstick

Here are the steps:

1. Pour a small amount of alcohol in the container.

2. Dip the lipstick tip in the alcohol for about 10-15 seconds.

3. Gently wipe off with tissue and let them dry.

Just remember not to over dip the lipsticks 'cause it may absorb the alcohol and may soften them.

Do it as often as possible if you use your lipsticks with other people, but for personal use, once every 2 months is okay. :)

Something "IN" for 2013

Happy Weekend! Before we plan something for the weekend with our families and friends, let me share with you another make up trend for this year. Well, we all know by now that Emerald Green is the color of the year. So for those of you who wanted to update your closet, now is the best time to do so. For those of you who wanted to update their make up kits, you might want to add some colored liners since they're said to be "IN" this 2013. :)

For me, I don't have to get myself some colored eyeliners 'cause I already have a set of them from ELF. If you can remember, I have posted it before, click here to see the colors. Tried to use the green one for this look:

applied it on my water line (outside)

How about you, what color would you like to try?

Review: MAC Lipstick in See Sheer

Hello my gorgeous readers! I have been too tired for a couple of days now after work and now I got a sore throat. :( But though I am not feeling well, I still have to go to work 'cause we are not allowed to make any absences during training. So to make me feel better, here I am making a review for my latest lipstick product. Well, my husband was the one who chose the color and bought it for me. :)

Described by MAC as Grapefruit Pink, SEE SHEER have a lustre finish and part of the coral shades permanent collection.

- lasts for about 4 hours

FOTD: MATTE but not FLAT

Today is my first day of training in the office and I decided to have a "bold" red on my look, to show confidence and style. So even if I'm wearing a white blouse and only minimal make up, I can still look and feel good. :)

Here's my face of the day for my first day:

What I've used:

BENEFIT The POREfessional
MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation in NC25
BENEFIT Boi-ing
BENEFIT Lemon Aid
ETUDE HOUSE Oh M'Eye Lash mascara
ETUDE HOUSE Color My Brows
ACTIVE Cosmetics blush in pink
MAC lipstick in Russian Red
BENEFIT Hello Flawless Powder in "I love Me" Ivory

I enjoyed this very light look and since it's our first day, no serious work at all. Honestly, I don't like the schedule of training 'cause it's "siesta" time for me (2pm-10pm) I'd rather be on a 10pm-6am shift, that's what I am used to. But then I need to take this for about 28 days I believe before they change our schedules.

Thanks again and I hope you'd like it!

Hi there beauties! A lot of days have passed and browsing through our Baguio vacay photos, I just realized that I wasn't able to take a snap shot of my look on Christmas Eve. So I re-created it since I promised to post my FOTD for you.

So there! Wish me luck on my first day at work. I'm on a mid-shift training from 2pm 'til 10pm so I need to fight sleep. LOL!

Thanks and have a nice week ahead!

NOTD: ROYAL BLUE

Happy Sunday loves! Sorry for being too busy for the past few days, I wasn't able to make some posts or reviews about my favorite products. I have been busy because of some things I need to accomplish since I'll be back to working in the office. Yes, home based job isn't just the thing for me. I've decided to give another try to office work, again.

Anyway, tomorrow will be Monday and that means my first day at work. It also means back to dressing up my nails again! :)

Here's a fave color from my polish collection:

My nails in Royal Blue!

Hope you too liked the color!

'til next! xoxo

Review: ESTEE LAUDER Pure Color Lipstick in MYSTIC MAUVE

Another year, another review from one of the newest lipsticks in my collection. It's part of the Estee Lauder travel kit that I received from my mom in law last month.

You can see that the packaging is gold and very luxe! It also smells good like a prune, a break from the usual vanilla scent from my MAC lipsticks.

Luxe tube!

on my lips

PRO's:

- luxe packaging
- smells good
- lasts for 4-6hrs
- it comes in a travel kit which is much affordable than buying it separately
- moisturizing, doesn't dry my lips

CON's:

- not sure if it's available locally
- for travelers, you can purchase the travel kit inside the planes or at the airport, for non-travelers, you might want to ask someone to    purchase it for you

I love the scent, color and lasting power! :)
